Las Cruces, NM

We had a leisurely exodus from El Paso yesterday and drove into Las Cruces, New Mexico around noon. We toured La Mesilla, an historic village, in the afternoon. Mesilla was once the largest town on the route between San Antonio and San Diego. Today it is a major tourist attraction. The San Albino Church, the market square with its quaint shops, the Mercado de Mesilla featuring many eateries were all of interest. We even purchased a colorful rug from the Del Sol shop for the Airstream. We also bought pecans at Stahmann’s Country Store. Stahmann Farms is the world’s largest family-owned pecan orchard.
