Kingsport, TN With Our Son's Family
We have spent the last four days at Warrior's Path State Park in Kingsport. We enjoyed touring Abingdon, VA, a quaint city with lots of history just north of Kingsport with Mark, Christy and Ethan. Next time you are traveling on I-81 near the VA-TN border, it will be worth your time to stop for lunch or an overnight in Abingdon. Consider staying at the famous old Martha Washington Inn, the most beautiful building in the city.
The weather was perfect during our entire stay in Kingsport, and Warrior's Path Campground was as lovely as ever. It has many shaded sites, a gorgeous lake, high quality roads, 50 amp service, nostalgic train sounds in the distance, and the state offers a generous military discount. The dogwoods were in full bloom. The first night in town, Christy prepared a delicious dinner at home. It was fun seeing several pieces of our former Virginia furniture utilized in such creative ways in their house. Five-year old Ethan stayed with us two nights at the park; he has always loved the Airstream. He even helped fold laundry and carried trash to the dumpster. We got to see one of his T-ball practices, and we taught him how to play bocce ball. In the evenings Mark and Christy joined us for campfire yarns, hotdogs and smores.
